Canopy AI Privacy
This page covers Canopy AI for Enterprise, the business offering from CanopyChat. It is separate from the CanopyChat consumer app, which has its own privacy policy. The specific terms for each customer are set out in that customer’s written agreement; where the agreement and this page differ, the agreement controls.
Your data trains your model, nobody else’s
Customer data may be used to fine-tune or improve a model only for that customer. That model is exclusive to the customer. Customer data is never used to train models for anyone else and is never shared with other customers.
Your IP stays yours
Your code, documents and data remain your property, and so does any model fine-tuned on them. We do not claim rights to your content or to what your agents produce from it.
Governance, sovereignty and PII
You decide where your data and models live, on-prem in your own environment or in Canopy’s cloud, so data can stay in the jurisdiction your governance and compliance requirements call for. Personal information is protected, and can be de-identified before it reaches a model. How this works for your organization is set out in your agreement.
On-prem deployments
When Canopy runs in your own data center or compute environment, your data and the models stay in that environment. CanopyChat does not receive your data unless you choose to share something with us, for example to get support.
Canopy cloud
When you choose Canopy’s cloud, requests run with zero data retention: prompts and outputs are processed to produce a response and are not stored. We keep limited operational records, such as timestamps, sizes and error codes, without their content, to run the service securely and to bill for it. Features that need information to be kept, such as a model you ask us to keep exclusive to you in our cloud, are set up only with your agreement.
Forward deployed engineers
If you engage our engineers, they access your systems and data only as you authorize, and only to do the work you ask for.
